Gary Vanerychuk coming to a city near you.

2009 October 19

Gary Vanerychuk, the star of Wine Library TV, is on tour promoting his new book, Crush It! Why Now is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion. If you don’t know who Gary is, then you should visit his book website and read about how he has turned the wine world upside down with the help of social media. If not for Gary, I probably wouldn’t have my job as I know it. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but he did break down a lot of barriers in the wine industry. But even beyond wine, Gary influences millions of people through his videos and social media presence.

Admittedly, I haven’t read the book yet, but it is on order and I should be getting it this week. From all the excerpts that I’ve read so far, this is a very straightforward read, delivering useful strategy and analysis that you can apply to your business or personal branding and not just the wine business. However, this isn’t a get-rich-quick strategy. He points out that you’ll have to give up many episodes of Lost or evenings of Madden 2010 video games to be successful and I know exactly what he’s talking about. I’m hoping I can glean lots of great information that will help me be more effective in my job. And I’m looking forward to meeting the man in person. Why not join me, Hardy, Shana and others this Saturday, Oct. 24 at 4PM at Reader’s Books in Sonoma, CA to have your book signed by Gary. You might want to RSVP.

For all my Seattle area friends, you’ll have 3 opportunities to have your book signed tomorrow, Oct. 20:

12:30PM at the Elliot Bay Bookstore

5PM at The Wine Outlet and

8PM at the Cost Plus World Market on Western.

If you’re in Portland, he’ll be at Powell’s on Burnside at 7:30PM tonight, Oct 19. Gary’s also scheduled for appearances in Austin, LA and San Francisco this week and numerous other locations in the months to come. Check his book website for details.
