Topel goes to the Dogs

2009 October 31
by Eric Hwang

I stopped by the Topel Winery Tasting Room today to meet some of my Facebook friends in person and to help with a good cause: Dogtoberfest. Proceeds from the calendar of dogs they produce goes to the local Healdsburg Animal Shelter. So stop in and pick up a calendar or two and help our canine and feline friends. Since it was Halloween, many dogs came in costume and I couldn’t resist getting a few of them on video. Enjoy.

Thanks to William Allen for arranging the meetup and to Topel Winery for allowing us to hang out at their beautiful tasting room and drink their wines. I especially liked the 2008 Birdsong, a white wine blend of Viognier, Sauv Blanc and Chardonnay and the 2007 Pinot Noir, Serendipity Vineyard. On an 80° day like today, the Birdsong was crisp and refreshing with just a bit of residual sugar to make it very easy drinking.
